The last hamlet before you enter Triglav National Park is an ideal starting point to conquer the Julian Alps which in winter, covered in a white blanket of snow, appear even mightier yet enticing for all those who enjoy off-the piste skiing. Our mountain guides will safely lead you from Mojstrana across the alpine peaks. Dovje is a small old ( 1000 years) village, which is one of the sunniest villages in Slovenia and enjoys a beautiful view of the highest mountain in Slovenia - Triglav - 2864 m. Situated is 22 km from Bled (Bohinj and Bovec, Soča around 45 km) and 13 km from Kranjska Gora. Dovje, a thousand-year-old-village,beautifully laid out among terraced fields and orchards along the southeren foot of the step sunny slopes of the Karavanke, a village with many typical features of alpine architecture preserved, the most outstanding being the arched doorways of farmhouses. And great views to peaks and Triglav. In the village of Dovje in the area of Julian Alps and Triglav national park you can find also a great accommodation in the Apartments Triglav.
The relief of the Julian Alps and Triglav is very dissected, there are steep and deeply cut valleys, their slopes having been smoothed down by glaciers and the bottoms are flat and enlarged or covered with the sediments originating from glacial and postglacial periods. In fact most of the Park area is exceptionally rich in various karst phenomena, including a special type of the mountain karst. Visit and hiking the mountains around like a : peak of Triglav, the most picturesque peaks and mountain groupings within the Park are Jalovec (2645m) and Mangart (2679) in the north-western part; Prisojnik (2547m), Razor (2601m), Skrlatica (2738m) and the Martuljek Group with Spik (2472m) on the northern side; Kanjavec (2568m) and Lepo Spicje (2398m) in the central part, and the long Bohinj mountain-ridge together with Krn (2244m) on the southern edge.
The park is named after Mt.Triglav (2864m), symbol of the Slovenia, which is situated almost in the middle of the protected territory. From it the valleys spread out radial, supplying water to two large river Systems which have theirsources in the Julian Alps: the Soca river and the Sava river flowing to the Adriatic and Black Sea respectively. In the tourist centres of the Triglav National Park and their immediate surroundings we are increasingly aware of the advantages and importance a national park has in developing natural and desirable tourist and recreational activities.Hiiking is no doubt one of the most appropriate ways a visitor can really experience the unspoiled surroundings of a national park. And it is only fair to remaind visitors that in the park they are entering a very sensetive natural ecosystem where special care must be taken.

11 World Heritage Objects in Indonesia

Lorentz National Park is located in the Indonesian province of Papua, formerly known as Irian Jaya (western New Guinea). With an area of 25,056 km² (9,674 mi²), it is the largest national park in South-East Asia. In 1999 Lorentz was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. It is also one of three places in the world which has glaciers in tropical area. This park has amazing biodiversity. There are approximately 630 species of birds and 123 species of mammals that have been identified in this park. Bird species two species of cassowary, four megapoda, 31 species of pigeon/dove, 30 species of parrot, 13 species of kingfisher, 29 species of sunbirds, and 20 endemic species such as long-tailed bird of paradise (Paradigalla caruneulata) and snow quail (Anurophasis monorthonyx). Mammals recorded include long snout thorn pig (Zaglossus bruijinii), short snout thorn pig (Tachyglossus aculeatus), four species of polecat, wallaby, wild cat, and tree kangaroo.

An outstanding example of the biodiversity of New Guinea, Lorentz is one of the most ecologically diverse national parks in the world. It is the only nature reserve in the Asia-Pacific region to contain a full altitudinal array of ecosystems ranging through marine areas, mangroves, tidal and freshwater swamp forest, lowland and montane rainforest, alpine tundra, and equatorial glaciers. At 4884 meters, Puncak Jaya (formerly Carstensz Pyramid) is the tallest mountain between the Himalayas and the Andes.

Birdlife International has called Lorentz Park “probably the single most important reserve in New Guinea”. It contains five of World Wildlife Fund's "Global 200" ecoregions: Southern New Guinea Lowland Forests; New Guinea Montane Forests; New Guinea Central Range Subalpine Grasslands; New Guinea Mangroves; and New Guinea Rivers and Streams.

Lorentz Park contains many unmapped and unexplored areas, and is certain to contain many species of plants and animals as yet unknown to Western science. Local communities' ethnobotanical and ethnozoological knowledge of the Lorentz biota is also very poorly documented. The park is named for Hendrikus Albertus Lorentz, a Dutch explorer who passed through the area on his 1909–10 expedition.

Kootenay National Park is located in southeastern British Columbia Canada, covering 1,406 km2 (543 sq mi) in the Canadian Rockies, and forms part of a World Heritage Site. The park ranges in elevation from 918 m (3,012 ft) at the south-west park entrance, to 3,424 m (11,234 ft) at Deltaform Mountain. Kootenay forms one of the four contiguous mountain parks in the Canadian Rockies; the other three being Banff National Park directly to the east, Yoho National Park directly to the north, and Jasper National Park, which does not share a boundary with Kootenay National Park. Initially called "Kootenay Dominion Park", the park was created in 1920 as part of an agreement between the province of British Columbia and the Canadian federal government to build a highway in exchange for title (property) to a strip of land on either side of the route. A strip of land 8 km (5.0 mi) wide on each side of the newly constructed 94 km. Banff-Windermere Highway was set aside as a national park. While the park is open all year, the major tourist season lasts from June to September. Most campgrounds are open from early May to late September, while limited winter camping is available only at the Dolly Varden campground. The park takes its name from the Kootenay River, one of the two major rivers which flow through the park, the other being the Vermillion River. While the Vermillion River is completely contained within the park, the Kootenay River has its headwaters just outside of the park boundary, flowing through the park into the Rocky Mountain Trench, eventually joining the Columbia River. The Banff-Windermere Highway, #93 follows the path of both rivers through the park.
